Plastic Free Easter Hints and Tips
/We thought we would share a few of our favourite plastic free Easter ideas.
You can’t think about Easter without thinking chocolate Easter eggs. In years past Easter would be filled with single-use plastic packaging from chocolate eggs but luckily as the plastic free movement has grown so too have the options for plastic free Easter eggs, with a number of chocolate brands switching from plastic to more sustainable, compostable or easily recyclable packaging. Our favourite plastic free chocolate Easter eggs are:
Chocolarder : Cornish based, small batch bean to bar chocolate. Every Easter they offer a range of delicious chocolate flavours and each hand-crafted chocolate egg is presented in innovative plastic-free, compostable and recyclable packaging.
Doisy & Dam Good Eggs : These mini eggs are seriously delicious. Vegan dark chocolate with a sweet sugar coating, a classic Easter treat. Available to buy packaging free from us!
Maileg : Not a chocolate Easter egg but instead a refillable metal one! One of our customers told us about these and we thought they were a great idea. This egg will last years and you can reuse it each Easter, filling with favourite chocolate, treats or even little gifts!
Montezuma : We’re really pleased these guys have bought back their Eco Eggs, minimal packaging and no plastic!
Play in Choc : Not quite an egg but a super cute and fun toy choc box. Each box contains 2 small vegan and nut free chocolates wrapped in a home compostable wrapper as well as an animal themed cardboard toy to construct and a fun factsheet about your bunny!
The Wood Cove : Another refillable Easter Egg option, this time a beautiful wooden one to refill each year.
Make Your Own : We love this mini egg recipe from Chef Tom Hunt.
But Easter doesn’t have to be all about the chocolate.
We love Amber Lu of Tulips and Toolbox’s idea of paper pulp flower seed Easter decorations that you can make at home, as well as her mini cupcakes in an eggbox which make a lovely gift for friends or family. Goldrick have a beautiful beeswax egg shaped candle. Or you could look to dye hard boiled eggs with natural colours from fruits and vegetables! And then of course there’s hot cross buns, normally found in single use plastic packaging in stores so we make our own and have shared our favourite sourdough , vegan and gluten free recipes so you can avoid plastic too!
We hope this little guide has given you a few ideas for a plastic and waste free Easter, there are further links in the images below for a few more ideas!
